17th-Early 18th Century Spanish Colonial Gold Enameled Adornment with Emeralds
A rare medallion adornment circa 17th/early 18th Century best known as Spanish colonial era. The medallion was used as a adornment on a hat or a belt. The disk shape médaillon is 16 karat yellow gold and embellished with natural emeralds from the New World colonies. With red and green enamel it is composed of 7 square cut emeralds and 10 smaller emeralds set around the center stone. The estimated weight of the emeralds is 10.5 carats. The gross weight is 21.9 grams.
